Climate Change in the East of England
This independent report, which does not necessarily represent the views of any members of the Regional Woodland Strategy Steering Group, assesses the possible impacts of climate change on trees and woodlands in the East of England. It is based on a review of the extensive literature available on the subject.

There is clear and compelling evidence that the global climate is changing as a result of the activities of mankind. Changes to the climate of the UK have also become evident. The models predict that the East of England will experience considerable changes with significant effects on woodland composition and condition.

Because of the long-term nature of forestry and woodland management, debate on a number of issues is needed now so that any decisions made can become effective over the coming century. Although woodland in the region is threatened by climate change the report presents a number of opportunities for woodland enhancement.
